Luis Daoíz y D. Pedro Velarde ..; The inscription is followed by a dedication to Ferdinand VII: AL REY N.S. D.N FERNANDO VII. DE BORBON, SU REAL CUERPO DE ARTILLERÍA; Catalan draftsman and engraver, who was active in Madrid; The hand colored print depicts a funeral procession in honor of Captains Luis Daoíz and Pedro Velarde, organized by the Real Cuerpo de Artillería in Madrid on May 2nd, 1814; A horse-drawn carriage is escorted by the artillery regiment, transporting the funeral urns containing the ashes of the war heroes, who died during the May 2nd, 1808 uprising against the French occupation. The procession was held from the Parque de Artillería to the Church of San Isidro el Real; Trimmed within plate mark; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**).
