Note: Jean Nicolas Jadot was Baron of Ville-Issey in the Duchy of Lorraine and served as court architect to Francis Stephen, Duke of Lorraine and of Bar. An engraver and etcher from Castel San Giovanni (Piacenza), Gaetano Vascellini was active in Florence, where he died in 1805. The print depicts the triumphal arch designed by Jean Nicolas Jadot and erected outside of Porta S. Gallo, Florence, on the occasion of the entry of Francis Stephen of Lorraine, Grand Duke of Tuscany, on January 20, 1739 [1738 in "stile fiorentino"]; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**). Published: 1779.
