Note: Suite of prints in ten parts, bound as three volumes oblong quarto, comprising: engraved title, ten pages of letterpress (Erklärung der im 1ten [-10ten] Hefte befindlichen Theater-Decorationen), and 100 etchings; Etchings numbered 1 through 100 and signed: N. Bittner fe; de Pian inv; Title page: Huber sc; Ink stamp Hoftheater in Donaueschingen on verso of title page, repeated twice elsewhere; Bound suite of prints by Austrian printmaker and publisher Norbert Bittner reproduces stage scenery designed by Antonio de Pian. The suite comprises an engraved title page and one hundred leaves of plates, with each fascicle of ten prints preceded by one page of letterpress text identifying the operas or ballets for which the decorations were designed. The stage designs are characterized by dramatic monumental palace interiors, with arcades, colonnades, and idyllic landscapes. The designs include sets for Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Rossini's Tancredi, Cherubini's Lodoiska, and a ballet version of Cinderella. Publication: Vienna, 1818.
