The 1st and 11th are signed FH, for Frans Huys. [Antwerp, ca. 1560] -- Leaves [14-26]. Title leaf and ports. of the 12 Caesars with grotesque borders, after Hans Vredeman de Vries, printed by Gerard de Jode. [Antwerp, ca. 1560] -- Leaves [27-51]. Title leaf and 24 ports. of emperors by Martin Rota. [Rome] : Claudij Ducheti formis, [ca. 1577; cf. Mortimer] -- Leaf [52]. Blank -- Leaves [53-64]. Ports. of the 12 Caesars by Marcantonio Raimondi. 5th plate has legend: Hans Liefrinck excud. -- Leaves [65-76]. Ports. of 12 famous women, attributed to Antonio Salamanca, ca. 1550. The 2nd and 4th ports. have legends: In Roma ... Ant. S.S. The legend of the 2nd has in addition: In casa dle. Car. de Lavalle; and that of the 4th has: In casa de Santa [sign of cross]; Most of the ports. by Rota are reverse copies of Effigies viginti qvatvor romanorvm, published ca. 1570 by Antoine Lafréry; see Mortimer; The ports. of the 12 Caesars by Raimondi are Bartsch's 1st state, without numbering; Binding: modern brown calf, by Lobstein (see dealer's description). Title gold tooled on spine: REGVM / ET / IMPERAT / ROMAN. Edges blue-green; Inscription in brown ink at head of t.p.: Ex Libris Clementis Gonzel parochi de Toope[or Joope?]. Additional inscriptions by Gonzel on leaves [27] and [53]. That on leaf [27] is written over a partly effaced earlier inscription: Sum ex bibliotheca Ioh. Georgoy à Werdenstein canonica anno 1572 (see dealer's description, referring to another work of the same provenance).
