Note: The noble Giovanni Battista Stella from Bologna was bishop of Rimini and assistant to the pontifical throne. He died in Rimini on December 18, 1758. The catafalque and funeral decorations involved the participation of several artists: Domenico Piò, who created the statues adorning the catafalque; Antonio Bonetti, who painted the coats of arms; the engineer Petronio Nanni, who constructed the frame; and Lodovico Sabbatini, who designed the decorations; "A.B. del."--in lower left of image; "G.B. in."--in lower right of image; Impressions of the etching were issued in: Descrizione de' funerali a monsignor Giambattista Stella celebrati in Bologna nella chiesa parroccchiale delle molto reverende madri benedettine cassinesi di Santa Margherita per ordine de' signori conti Antonio, e Giuseppe fratelli Stella li xvii. decembre MDCCLIX, giorno anniversario della sua morte (In Bologna : Nella stamperìa di Lelio dalla Volpe, 1760); The print shows the catafalque designed for the memorial service of Giovanni Battista Stella, held on December 17, 1759 at the Church of Santa Margarita in Bologna; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
