Note: Painter and etcher from Lyon, who was active in Florence from ca. 1619 to 1623; The print depicts the annual procession and presentation of tributes to the grand duke of Tuscany, performed in Piazza della Signoria, Florence, on the feast-day of Saint John the Baptist, June 24, 1621; Piazza della Signoria is shown crowded with paraders on foot and horsemen holding banners and tributes in the form of vases and salvers. Among the spectators watching the procession from the palace windows, loggias and rooftops, one lady is using a telescope and one onlooker is a self-portrait of Stella (cf. Robert-Dumesnil); The artist's signature and a dedication to Ferdinando II are inscribed in a cartouche in the lower center of the image; The impression does not correspond to the states described by Robert-Dumesnil and Le Blanc: it is not inscribed with a privilege statement "Con priuilegio" or a publisher's imprint; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
