Note: Inscription printed on cartouche: LVIGI / E / MARIA; Inscription printed in scroll: IAM MAGNVS SED QVANTVS ERIT; The print depicts the apparati adorning the courtyard of the palace in Rome of Cardinal Melchior de Polignac, designed for the celebrations held on September 26, 1725 in honor of the wedding of King Louis XV of France to Marie Leszczyńska, daughter of the dethroned king Stanisław I Leszczyński of Poland; The Palazzo Altemps, residence of the cardinal who served as the French chargé d'affaires in Rome from 1724 to 1732, is decorated with fleurs-de-lys, torches, and ephemeral structures which feature a temporary balcony for onlookers; Glued to disbound album leaf numbered 99 in brown ink, which retains threads of the original binding; trimmed on the right, with some loss of image and inscription; "Palazzo del E.mo de Polignac"--inscribed in ink on mount; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**). Publication: [1725].
