Note: The architect and printmaker Giuseppe Antonio Landi from Bologna, also known as António José Landi, was a pupil of Ferdinando Galli-Bibiena; he later emigrated to Brazil, where he worked at the royal court of João V; The print depicts the elevation of a triumphal arch designed and etched in sign of jubilation by Giuseppe Antonio Landi on the occasion of the coronation of Holy Roman emperor Francis I, 1745; The arch is seen within an urban setting featuring a pyramid and ancient ruins. The opening of the arch reveals the equestrian statue of the emperor crowned with laurel, standing on a pedestal that is inscribed: GLORIA / Tempo: / ribus; Trimmed within plate mark and glued to mount on verso of which is glued another print: Mariotti, Vincenzo. [Prospetto dell'arco trionfale ..], ca. 1688. There are binding holes in right margin of mount; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**).
