More Reviews

The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals offers the most comprehensive listing of journal articles on architecture and design, including bibliographic descriptions and indexes on subjects such as the history and practice of architecture, landscape architecture, city planning, historic preservation, and interior design and decoration. It contains more than four hundred thousand entries surveying more than seven hundred American and international journals.

Nearly thirteen thousand obituary citations have been added to the 2001 Avery Index, providing architects, architectural historians, and researchers with an excellent source of biographical and professional information about architects. Among the obituaries indexed are those from four crucial American periodicals since their inception: American Architect (1876), Architectural Forum (1892), Architectural Record (1891), and Progressive Architecture (1920). The Journal of the Royal Institute of British Architects is indexed as far back as 1865, providing an extensive record of English architects.

This valuable research tool covers not only the international scholarly and popular periodical literature, but also the publications of professional associations, American state and regional periodicals, and the major serial publications on architecture and design of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia. Included are key publications in architecture such as American Architect, Baumeister, Byggekunst, Domus, and El Croquis, as well as architectural articles from art and planning journals such as American Art Journal, Burlington Magazine, Environment and Planning A, Metropolitan Museum Journal, and Revue de l'Art.

This new release includes all articles from the previous CD-ROM version, including the one hundred fifty thousand records converted from the card files of the renowned Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library at Columbia University, with records dating from the 1860s to the 1970s.

This program runs on any Windows-based PC. Formerly distributed by G.K. Hall and Company.
