German painter and photographer Eva Castringius looks at Polke's experimental early photographs and explores how photographic and painterly sensibilities can combine to produce innovative work. Sign up at the Museum Information Desk beginning at 3:00 p.m. the day of the program.

Gallery Course

Sigmar Polke's Early Photographs in Context
Join Virginia Heckert, associate curator, Department of Photographs, the J. Paul Getty Museum, in a two-hour course that considers the early works in the exhibition in relation to Polke's paintings and later photographs. The course also explores similar approaches to photography during the first half of the 20th century with refernce to examples from the Museum's collection. Course fee $20. Open to 25 participants.
