Symposium

The Image of Peru: History and Art, 1550–1880
This two-day symposium focuses on the visual representation of Peru from the colonial period through the 19th century. The symposium culminates a project to study, publish and exhibit two illuminated chronicles of the history of Peru written by the Spanish Mercedarian friar Martín de Murúa, and illustrated by at least two artists, including the native Peruvian Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala.

Admission is free. Separate reservations are required for each day of the symposium.
