Dancing on the Head of a Pin: Paul Outerbridge and the Art of Commerce
A pioneer in applying Modernist aesthetic principles to commercial photography, Paul Outerbridge helped close the great divide between art for art's sake and commercial art. Paul Martineau, curator of the exhibition, provides an overview of Outerbridge's career and explores his struggle to unite its artistic and commercial aspects during a time of significant change in the world of art and high-end advertising.

Paul Outerbridge: An American Photo Modernist
Join independent scholar Graham Howe and learn about the photographs of Paul Outerbridge, one of America's earliest modern masters and a pioneer in the art of color photography. Participants are invited to join in a complimentary gallery discussion of Outerbridge's work with photographer Reece Vogel at 2:30 p.m. Course fee $20.

Paul Outerbridge: New Color Photographs from Mexico and California at the Downtown Central Library
Recently discovered vibrant, bustling color images of California and Mexico taken during the late 1940s and 1950s by visionary photographer Paul Outerbridge, will be on display in a new exhibit on view in the First Floor Galleries. The Central Library is located in Downtown Los Angeles at 630 W. Fifth St.
