The Marriage of Venice and Rome: What Makes Piranesi Great
Dr. Andrew Robison, Andrew W. Mellon Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., examines aesthetic themes throughout Piranesi's work to see what makes Piranesi great—first in the context of Roman printmaking, and then in wider fields of art.

Erika Naginski, professor of architectural history at Harvard University, joins Louis Marchesano and Marcia Reed, curators at the Getty Research Institute, to examine Piranesi's talents as an artist, book designer, and publisher, as well as his legacy in the history of art and architecture.

Studio Course

Inspired by Piranesi
Join art educator and artist Ann Steinsapir for this architectural drawing course inspired by Piranesi's etchings. The Getty Villa is the model for pen-and-ink sketches that explore representation on the edge of fantasy.
