Curator Spotlight Series:
In Focus: Portraiture and Photography

Technical improvements in photography enabled the instantaneous capture of likeness and expanded the dialogue between photographer and sitter. Anne Lacoste, assistant curator of Photographs, the J. Paul Getty Museum, surveys the development of and variety in the portrait genre.
